This section showcases selected pages, covers, and original drawings from various Lucky Luke adventures, allowing readers to admire the extraordinary artistic talent of Morris, his technical skill, and his stylistic evolution.
…
But first let’s talk about his great talent in the field of comics. Did you know that he was the very first to render the anatomy of a horse in a cartoon. Behind him, it is difficult to do better.
Second, another particularity of Morris is, that he has remained faithful for so long to a single character. As far as I know, Lucky Luke was born in 1946, at the beginning of the author’s career and I don’t know of any older brothers to this character. This is an example of great consistency in this particular profession of ours. Lastly one thing is certain, Morris is the only cartoonist who draws faster than his shadow. He has just released the 80th album in the series after celebrating the fiftieth anniversary of his character in 1997. I know many who would like to know this feat.
What more can we add about this rather secretive colleague whose success has not made his head bigger, except that he still lives quietly in his Brussels suburb with Francine, his wife, with a pencil in one hand and a glass of beer in the other.
I remain convinced that in his childhood dreams, Morris will ride for a long time on the plains of the Far West towards an eternal sunset humming “I am a poor lonesome cowboy and a long way from home”.Excerpt from a Tribute by Albert Uderzo
